Muslim American Society of New York - Programs
MAS Youth Halaqat (study cirlces)
A weekly meeting, or study circle, of a few brothers or sisters. It follows a strict and thoroughly reviewed educational program and timetable, and serves as a nurturing ground for educational, spiritual, and intellectual development. The Halaqa mechanism helps joining hearts by developing true brotherhood and sisterhood (acquaintance and solidarity), trust and mutual understanding, loyalty and a sense of belonging, and commitment to the service of Islam and the community.
MAS Youth Revive
MAS Youth Revive is a monthly qiyam held at the MAS Youth center once a month. It is hosted for the youth throughout New York to come join for a spiritual night including qiyam with recitation by Sheik Ramadan Al-Sabagh, a lecture and dinner.
Usually a monthly program where all the halaqas of one chapter spend the entire night or part of it in prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, supplication and remembrance of Allah, thus recharging the members spiritually, softening their hearts, purifying and nourishing their souls, rekindling/reinforcing the spirit of sacrifice, and preparing the individual to shoulder the burdens of the Islamic Call under all circumstances.
MAS Youth Give
MAS Youth Give is usually held once a month. It is a volunteering program for the youth. Past projects worked on have been visiting a pediatric ward after Eid al Fitr and providing gifts for sick children. The youth gathered together to wrap the gifts then headed off to their community hospital to give out the gifts. Our project for May will be boxing meals at a food pantry.
MAS Youth Night
MAS Youth Night has been designed to attract our young youth by spending their time at their local center in the presence of their muslim brothers and sisters. During our youth night we play an Islamic version of game shows such as Who Wants to be a Millionare, Jeaporday, Who’s Line is it Anyway, and Family Feud. The night is ended with a spiritual/practical open-forum and dinner.
